This has been quite a week, hasn't it?
I have been feeling very introspective for the past several days, reflecting on just how many changes have been happening. And realizing that even more changes await us.
Change can be troubling. Upsetting. Even scary. In fact, it seems like fear & anger are everywhere we turn right now.
When facing a whirlwind of change, it helps to anchor ourselves to a firm foundation. To find that strong center and hold fast. For us, that foundation is our Core Values. And they're more important now than ever before.
- Kindness in our words, our actions, our intentions.
- Bravery to do what is right, despite the cost.
- Dedication to persevere in the face of difficulties & setbacks.
- Curiosity as the first step towards seeking a deeper understanding of each other's perspectives.
- Teamwork, because we can face hard things together.
- Creativity to tackle the seemingly impossible.
- Fun to fuel hard work with joy.
These core values are more than a firm foundation, a solid anchor point to secure ourselves in an ever-changing world. They are the essential ingredients that connect us as people.
And they give me hope for our future, because I see these qualities reflected in the faces of the girls I meet. I hear these values echoed in the stories of the girls we profile as HoneyBee Heroines on the blog.
When I think about the generation of young women we are raising right now, I'm filled with so much hope for the future. And no matter which direction the winds of change blow, that hope cannot be shaken.
